Eurocode 5 EN 1995-1-2:2025

The current version of the Eurocode 5 was put into force in 2004 and is the standard for fire design of timber structures. At the moment, there is an ongoing revision of the Eurocode 5 by CEN TC250 SC5 WG4 (governor Andrea Frangi). Comments on the 2nd draft are projected in 2020, while the publication of the new generation of Eurocodes is scheduled for 2025.

The project team for drafting the code consists of the following people: Andrea Frangi, Jouni Hakkarainen, Alar Just, Joachim Schmid and Norman Werther.

Main improvements (compared to EN 1995-1-2:2004)

  • Validity of design models increased to 120min (EN 1995-1-2:2004 → 60min)
  • Rules for Cross Laminated Timber incl. the behavior of adhesives
  • Improved model for timber frame assemblies
  • Design model for I-joists
  • Improved chapter for connections
  • Detailing rules
  • Design rules for physically based fires
